Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What areas does Primus Energy Services work in?

Primus is based in Alberta and supports industrial, energy, municipal, and infrastructure clients across Western Canada, including remote and rural sites.

Does Primus work with both industrial and municipal clients?

Yes. Primus serves both heavy industrial and oilfield clients and municipal, utility, and public infrastructure clients. For municipal scopes, Primus adapts its core field services to public works priorities such as safe access, traffic control, environmental controls, disposal documentation, seasonal scheduling, emergency response, and service continuity.

What industries does Primus serve?

Oil and gas, pipelines and terminals, refineries and processing facilities, power and utilities, municipal public works, water and wastewater infrastructure, construction and civil contractors, environmental and waste operations, and rail and fleet operations. See the Industries Served page for details.

How does Primus handle emergency or urgent requests?

Primus can support urgent issues such as blocked lines, frozen equipment, spills, and wash water recovery, including remote-location response where equipment, crew availability, site access, and safety requirements allow.

Is Primus available for planned maintenance programs, not just one-off jobs?

Yes. Primus supports planned maintenance, annual programs, project work, shutdowns, turnarounds, and seasonal work in addition to emergency callouts.

What safety and compliance standards does Primus follow?

Every project starts with safety planning: field-level hazard assessments, site-specific procedures, competent and trained crews, confined-space and pressure system controls, environmental protection, and complete documentation. See the Safety & Compliance page for full details.

Does Primus provide its own equipment, or subcontract?

Primus coordinates field-ready crews, supervision, equipment, and qualified execution support based on the scope of work. Where specialized subcontracted support is required, Primus manages that coordination so the client has a clear point of contact and the required service coverage is in place.

How do I request a quote?

Submit your project details through the Contact / Request a Quote form, and a Primus specialist will review your requirements and recommend the appropriate service approach.

What information do you need to provide an accurate quote?

Project location, client type, service required, project stage, system type, known contaminants, required outcome, and project timeline all help Primus scope the work accurately. More detail up front means a faster, more accurate quote.

How quickly can Primus mobilize?

Mobilization timing depends on scope, location, and equipment required, but Primus is structured for responsive mobilization, including remote and time-sensitive sites.

Does Primus handle waste disposal and documentation?

Yes. Disposal classification, manifests, and coordination with approved disposal sites are part of the standard scope, along with the documentation package clients need for their own records.

Can Primus work in confined spaces?

Yes. Primus supports confined-space entry preparation, including gas testing, ventilation, and standby procedures, as part of tank, vessel, and chemical cleaning work.

Does Primus operate in winter conditions?

Yes. Cold-weather work — including freeze protection, winter thawing, and heat-assisted cleaning — is a core part of the Primus service offering in Alberta.

What certifications do Primus crews hold?

Primus crews are trained and certified to meet the requirements of the site and scope of work. Where a project requires specific credentials, certifications, orientations, or client approvals, Primus confirms those requirements during onboarding and provides appropriately qualified personnel before mobilization.
